My Raw Birthday

June 18, 2010

What a sweet day I had yesterday – and I mean that in many ways!

First of all, it was my birthday and when I woke up yesterday morning and saw how many people wrote to me wishing me happy birthday, I was filled with gratitude. People from all over the world who I haven’t even met yet. It was an amazing start to the day. Very sweet.

I decided to have a couple of close friends over to help me celebrate. Just a few of my best friends and my parents are also staying with us this week, visiting from Florida. My parents are 80 and 86 but you would never know it! I’m worn out! They never stop and have so much energy it’s incredible. They also look amazingly young (yeah for good genes!).

I usually travel on my birthday but this year, since they were going to be here, I spent my birthday with them and other people I love.  I’m so glad I did. We had a really fun, relaxing day playing games, talking and just being with each other. Wow, amazing that I haven’t slowed down enough to do this for years. It was such a special day. Very very sweet.

Now… for the sweetest…the birthday cake!

It’s my recipe for Angel Food Cake in my new book Raw Food for Everyone.

It looks small when you make it but it’s SO incredibly rich you can’t eat that much. It reminded me of those jelly rolls I used to eat when I was a kid.

Super sweet.

The picture isn’t the prettiest, but hopefully you get how yummy this was.

Ah, 43…another year older and much much wiser.
