Raw Food Ordering Glitches on!

Friday, July 30th, 2010

So of course this update to my site is taking forever! Isn’t that always the way with techie stuff!

My shopping cart was supposed to be updated last night (Thursday night) but apparently it won’t be ready until after 5-6 pm tonight (Friday evening).

So, I apologize for those of you trying to order, you won’t be able to until later tonight. Ill post an update HERE when it’s back up but should be later today or early evening.

Many of you have asked about the free shipping though and are worried that you won’t get in on time so I’ve extended it until next week. I won’t be giving free shipping again for a while so I wanted to make sure you get in on it and because of this little glitch its used up some time on that as it was supposed to end tomorrow.

So, free shipping will be extended until the 9th of August! Yippie!!! This is fantastic news as so many of you have been ordering juicers, dehydrators  and other large appliances, kitchen gadgets and raw foods in large amounts this week and are saving tons on shipping!

And… the shopping cart is going to be SO MUCH better! Major upgrades!

I’ll be sending out a bulk email Monday reminding you all of this as well!

Happy weekend everyone!

Blueberry delight and an amazing moonlit night

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

Friends of ours called late yesterday and asked us to go out on their boat. We jumped at the chance! We were a bit stressed out after coming home from our family trip to Texas and I was craving water and swimming.

It was late in the day and I hadn’t eaten much SO… imagine my excitement when I found out we could pick blueberries in the middle of the lake!

It was an amazing day that turned into a nighttime cruise. The moon was bright orange and the sky was lit up.

Here’s a  picture of me, Brad and Ruth swimming over to the blueberry bushes.

blueberryAnd here we are looking for the blueberries we dropped when we got back on the boat!

014[1]And… here are the blueberries… They’re tiny but I think I’ll make my blueberry pie with them.

Ruth also gave me a HUGE bag of blueberries that she picked from her yard!!! Those went into my smoothie this morning along with bananas, some Hemp Seeds kale, spinach, Green Food Powder, Camu Camu, Coconut oil, Vanilla Beans and a handful of other stuff such as a bit of Maca and some sprouted buckwheat that I never got around to using after I sprouted it before I went away for the weekend.

(don’t forget, free shipping on these and ALL of the products in my store including appliances and kitchen gadgets until the end of July)

Ah, feeling much more relaxed now. Definitely needed that!

Raw Food Wedding

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

I’m on my way to Texas for a wedding this weekend. Yep, Texas in July. I’ll be taking some crackers and macaroons (don’t forgot, the macaroons are still 10% off for the month of July) and anything else I can smuggle in my carry on bag since this will definitely not be a raw wedding. It may even be too hot to eat there ;)

Just put some amazing body butters on my site. I know you guys want more face and hair care products so those are coming soon! I just have to test them. Yeah! Samples!

Also… love this quote a friend just sent me…

Beauty appears when something is absolutely completely and openly itself.

Just finishing up my banana pudding, trying to get off the computer and then figuring out what to wear for the wedding!

Heirlooms with Flor de Sal

Sunday, July 18th, 2010

The perfect raw food lunch. Amazing produce at the farmers market yesterday. Look at these organic yellow heirloom tomatoes. I’m eating them for lunch today and they are divine sprinkled with a little Flor de Sal! I’m sorry to say that Dennis will not be trying any as I only purchased a small amount. If I knew how incredible they are I would have bought a ton more! oh well, what he doesn’t know wont hurt him ;) They’ll be long gone before he gets back home today!

Some of you have asked about the mushrooms in the store. You were concerned that they were small 2 ounce bags. The mushrooms don’t weigh much so it really is a good amount in each bag. Here’s a pix of them and don’t forget, when you soak them they also expand a bit.

Raw Chia Seed Pudding

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

This recipe is from my new book, Raw Food for Everyone (which you can pre-order now so it will be at your door step in October!)

For those of you not familiar with Chia seeds, they are a powerhouse of nutrition! I know it can be weird to try something like this if you’ve never had it before. These little seeds can be intimidating if you don’t know what to actually do with them! But, trust me, they are super easy to prepare and use. This recipe below takes only minutes to make and you can easily adjust the taste to your liking. Chia seeds increase endurance and stamina and they fill you up for hours!  They are rich in calcium, iron, potassium, and other nutrients, as well as a complete source of protein.

I could have added some beautiful berries on top of this or dressed this up in some way, but I was too hungry this morning and just wanted to eat it! I’m still getting used to taking pictures of all my food  before I eat so I can blog about it and its cramping my marathon eating habits, lol! Probably a good thing!

chia 1

Chia Pudding

Chia seeds are filling, packed with energy, and act as a natural thickener.

Start your day with a bowl of this tapioca-like pudding and some fresh or dried fruit stirred in. If you prefer a thicker pudding, use less water. This can be made with unsprouted almonds, but if you have sprouted ones, use them.

Makes 2 to 4 servings

3 cups water

1 cup almonds

½ cup chia seeds

2 tablespoons agave nectar

Dash ground cinnamon

(Its not in the original recipe, but I like adding fresh vanilla to this also!)

1. Put the almonds and 3 cups water in a Vita-Mix. Blend until creamy and smooth. Add the chia seeds, agave nectar, and cinnamon and pulse the blender several times just to mix. If it’s not sweet enough, add a little more agave nectar.

2. Pour the mixture into a bowl and chill for 1 hour or longer to thicken. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days

Sure, there are other macaroons out there and you can certainly make your own, but I’m telling you, these are really the best I’ve tried.

But… if you don’t feel like sprouting buckwheat and making your own, this one is the closest I’ve come to mine. It’s delicious!!!!! This is also quickly becoming a staple for me!

Emmys Lemon -Ginger (pictured above) along with the Chia Spice Macaroons, Dark Cacao, Vanilla, and  Choco Orange as well as their amazing Granola is now 10% off!

Raw Food Friends – I cant connect!

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

So apparently there is a 5000 person limit on Facebook that I, nor anyone in my office knew about. Wow, where have we been ;) So, if your trying to connect with me as a friend on facebook, I can’t add you! We found out about this because Jessica went to add 289 more people  friends and it wouldn’t let her. So Ive been told by my lovely facebook friends that I need to create a fan page.  Will get to that soon.

oh and a lovely little deal is coming up from our friends at Emmy’s about their macaroons. I’ll announce it tomorrow in my Newsletter and here on the blog.

Goji – Cacao Afternoon Pick-Me-Up

Saturday, July 10th, 2010

I was sitting most of the day yesterday getting the final touches on my store pages. Its done!!! Still some more products to add next week and the coming weeks, the green star juicer, olives, etc… But, there are enough to start. So I’ll be posting lots of recipes and ways to use some of the new ingredient on the site  (dried mushrooms, salt slab etc…) as I begin to blog more. But here is a simple “throw together” that uses some of the oldies but goodies, goji berries and cacao chips. It totally appeased my appetite and also kept me going throughout the day!

Simple, Simple, Simple:

  • A handful of Goji Berrie – I soaked these because I don’t love goji’s when they are not soaked for a couple of hours, but if you like them harder, don’t soak.
  • A handful of Cacao Nibs.
  • A handful of fresh blueberries. If you don’t have blueberries, you can use any dried or fresh fruit.

Place in bowl and eat ;)

Yep pretty simple, but, like I always say, its those simple recipes that make it easy to stay raw.

Going canoeing today with Dennis. Dragging it across the street and hopping in. Think Ill bring some of this with me for the ride!

My Raw Garden

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

OK, so its really containers of veggies and herbs, not a  full fledge garden. But they are so sweet. Its been a long time since Ive had time to grow anything. Here’s some pix:

These are the lettuces and Kale:

This is Mint, St. Johns Wort, Oregano and Lavender:

The bigger ones are lemon balm and purple basil:

Here is Echinacea:

Some little basil next to the purple basil:

I have no idea what I’m doing so feel free to give me gardening advice. I have this vision of growing all our own food someday. If  I can keep these alive throughout the summer, maybe there will be hope for that one day ;)
